After an extended period of summerlike temperatures well into October, more season-appropriate air has filtered into Michigan. The calendar says it's fall, and it's finally beginning to feel like it.

But we all know what's next, right? Month after month of gloomy skies and intermittent bouts of wintry weather — some cold shots, the occasional sleet and/or freezing rain, and (most years) a decent amount of snow.
