I stepped out of my comfort zone this week and went to see "Wicked" at the Wharton Center. I have never been into going to plays and musicals. I am the guy that once called intermission, "half time". I knew how much this meant to my wife to go see "Wicked", we do things out of our comfort zone for our loved ones, especially if it means that much to them. As Sheryl Crow once sang "if it makes you happy it can't be that bad".

Right out of the gate when the musical started I was stunned by the set on stage. The fact that they operate this set non stop with moving parts throughout the musical and you don't see how they are doing it is captivating.

Then comes the performers. All I can say is WOW! Having been a rocker my whole life, people don't think that I don't like other genres. Acturally it's quite the opposite. The whole musical kept me engaged with some good humor, amazing singing and choreography. The harmony between the two female leads was mind blowing and I literally felt their emotion when they were performing.

The pit orchestra was pretty bad ass. I was kind of surprised that there was a pit orchestra. It was cool to see the conductor doing his work. They literally perform the entire time during the musical too.

At the end of the first portion (still learning theatre language) I thought it was over because of the number they performed, it was awesome. As it turns out it was intermission and not "half time". I was 1000000% ok with this because I wanted to see more.

I have decided that I need to get out to see shows at the Wharton Center more and need to do more things out of my comfort zone that might make someone else I love happy because I am sharing in something they love too.

Here's the ONE PROBLEM I had with "Wicked". It's pretty simple. I didn't know how to dress for the show. It's a simple problem, I dressed the part and everything was awesome and I'm grateful that I tried something new. I loved it.
