Heads Up: Michigan AT&T Customers Need To Be Aware Of This

I'm sure if you're an AT&T customer, you recall the big service outage that happened earlier this year. Service was out for hours, and users were unable to even contact emergency dispatchers at this time either.

This left thousands here in Michigan affected, and over 100,000 nationwide. AT&T claimed that the outage, at the time, was caused by an issue in their system.

What Really Happened During The Outage?

If you were an AT&T customer, much like myself, you were left without the ability to be connected to the rest of the world unless you had an internet source. To be honest, I was unaware of the outage until I looked and noticed I was on Wi-Fi instead of using cellular data.

AT&T is announcing a data breach, that could have put you and more in danger. The breach doesn't just affect new and current users either. This could also affect that of former AT&T customers.

What Got Leaked From AT&T

At this time, the company is unsure what was leaked and where from. Whether it was from AT&T or its third-party vendors. At this point, engineers at AT&T have no belief that their systems were compromised during the outage. However, the data leaked appears to be from 2019 and earlier.

So, what do you do if you are an AT&T customer?

It would be ideal to change your account passwords at this time, as well as monitor your bank accounts, as well as your credit. AT&T will be offering credit monitoring as well when applicable.
