CanadaCasino did a pretty thorough and deep dive into what you'd need to stay alive and how plentiful those assets are in each state, and Michigan scored pretty well (full 50-state ranking below).

According to the study, Michigan is one of the top states for surviving an apocalypse. Why? Access to water is one of the most advantageous regions to hole up in the Mitten State, as is the surprising number of hospitals per 100,000 people.

What I really appreciate about this study is that it considered each state's military bases per 100,000 people and airports.

Survival is All About Living Off the Land

This is where CanadaCasino's study gets interesting: they looked at the number of hunting, fishing, and trapping supply stores per capita. Basically, if your state is stocked with camo and tackle, your odds go way up (big points for Michigan).
