Some online sellers have decided little things like US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval aren't necessary and have begun hawking fake versions of Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro to unsuspecting victims who thought they'd found an incredible deal. Well, when something looks too good to be true, chances are it's a scam.

So, these scammers are pretty bold, even for criminals. Some of these fake sites don't even bother faking the whole drug, according to a press release from Nessel's office. They will send you a package of the active ingredient and slap a label on it reading "not for human consumption."
This would be like ordering a cake and getting a bag of flour. Sure, flour may be a large part of the mixture, but I'm not taking a forkful for flour anytime soon.
Why Fake Weight Loss / Diabetes Drugs Are a Real Problem for Michigan
Obviously, this is a big problem, which is why Nessel and 38 other attorneys general are telling the FDA to do something about it. They're asking for stricter enforcement, cracking down on pharmacies that are playing along, and making sure these drugs are actually being made in sanitary environments (not your neighbor's bathtub).

So here's the deal: If you need a prescription for a weight loss or diabetes drug, get it from an actual doctor and pick it up at a real pharmacy. If it's coming from an online "research chemical" store or from some guy who slid into your DMs, maybe think twice before clicking "Add to Cart."
