Ghosts in the Woods: The Three Little Girls Dressed in White, Livonia
Rotary Park at Six Mile Road and Hubbard Street in Livonia is visited every year by hikers, families, cross-country skiers and those who just want to get out and enjoy some serenity. Part of that serenity is found during daylight hours.....but once darkness falls, it’s another story...
The woods in the park are rumored to be haunted. Along the nature trails, paranormal occurrences occasionally take place at night. If you have the guts to walk the trails at night, you too just might hear what others have.
Odd noises that should not be heard within the woods like disembodied voices and screams. There is usually a legend that goes with any haunting, and this one is no exception.
Some late-night walkers say they’ve seen the apparitions of three little girls dressed in white dresses. The tale says they were killed somewhere in the woods and their spirits wander the woods, looking for any children who got lost.
Here are a few instances as reported by visitors on the Michigan Haunted Houses site:
1) "We sorta got lost and the sun ended up setting while we were still in the middle of the woods. Me and my friend were ahead of the group when we saw a girl in a white dress standing on the tree branch above us then vanish.”
2) "I took a bunch of photos with my phone and in one of them top right corner on a tree branch is a little girl in a white dress and I still have the photo.”
3) "Around 3am we got out of the car to walk the trail. We took 2 steps and had a bad feeling so we turned around, got back to the car, and we heard a demonic laugh.”
4) “Me and my boyfriend along with his sister and her boyfriend went into the park at 2 AM. After 45 minutes I turned around to a little girl all dressed in white with long black hair bending over picking something up off the ground. (The legend) described everything I saw that night! I highly recommend a late night visit!”
There’s another legend that circulates about a woman who hung herself in the woods and a man who did the same thing on exercise equipment. No reports of adult ghosts, however...just ones of the little girls.
