Michigan has been responsible for some of the most life-saving and helpful inventions. By now, many of us know some of the more famous inventions that have come out of the Great Lakes state. We all know about how Battle Creek is the home of cereal in the country.
We also know how Henry Ford, normalized the assembly line eventually leading to his Model T cars being able to be produced in 93 minutes. Another interesting invention we all know of is how baby food, particularly the Gerber baby food, which was born out of Fremont, Michigan.
The hospital bed is also another invention that was started right here in Kalamazoo by Dr. Homer Stryker, who is responsible for giving patients the ability to adjust their beds. Of course, we can't forget about how Pfizer was heavily responsible for creating a Covid-19 vaccine.
But there are so many other things that were invented in Michigan or that came from Michigan, Michigan, that you probably were never aware of. These are some of the lesser-known of all of those. Lines in the road were first used in Michigan, along with curb cuts. You know, the part of a sidewalk, that too was started and tested here in Kalamazoo before any other city.
Regardless of whether they are tangible inventions, origin stories, or creations, it’s clear that Michigan is one of the most innovative states in the country.
