Have you ever been out in the wild and experienced Michigan nature just creep up on you?

That’s what happened recently to two men who were fishing on a river, possibly in the Upper Peninsula, when they were surprised by a massive elk that came out of the woods to get a sip of water.

Amazingly enough, this experience was captured on camera, and the two men were able to maintain their composure even though the massive animal was approaching out of the woods.

Recently, the video was shared on Facebook and is probably one of the purest Michigan things you’ll see today:

This is some of the coolest video I've ever seen! Troy Harrison of Baldwin Canoe Rental & RV Park was fishing a northern Michigan river when this beautiful bull elk came in for a drink.

People in the comment section sounded off about the crucialness of maintaining our wildlife areas in the state:

This is EXACTLY WHY we need to fight to keep our wild places wild and our rural areas rural!! Very cool video and what a beautiful bull!!

One person had an even more extreme encounter, allegedly:

One of the coolest moments in the outdoors for me was while field dressing a doe I’d just stalked during bow season in the Pigeon River Country, two bull elk came out of the woods and started sparring with each other. We’re blessed in this state to have such a resource.
