There are a few tips and tricks to watch out for, if you are concerned you may be getting targeted for a potential scam. But also, a warning on the new trending scam that is currently hitting Michigan.
What The Crooks Are Doing Now
Most people (myself included) tend to let an unknown number go straight to voicemail. Nowadays, the people who want your crucial information, are using that to their advantage.
You may receive an unknown call, that you may send to voicemail. The crooks will then leave a voicemail, stating that more information may be needed on something like a loan, or that your account has been compromised.

These tactics don't tend to be true, in fact they are more likely after your identity, social security numbers, or even some of your banking details, which is information that you definitely don't want to give up.
It's being noted too, that most of the phone numbers being used now, are from older public data leaks than anything more recent.
How To Protect Yourself
There are a few things that you could do to protect yourself against the bad guys. Some of these are to simply not returning calls from someone you may not know, or answering an unknown phone number.
You should also be regularly monitoring your bank accounts, credit scores and other information like that. You should also keep personal information in a more hidden spot than something like your email or in a place easily accessible.
