This Is Illegal To Do In The Winter Time in Michigan
We've seen the first few snowfalls here in Michigan, and with that, we've seen all the awful drivers coming out of the woodworking.
You know what they say in Michigan... Everybody forgets how to drive in the first snowfall in Michigan. I didn't believe that much growing up, but now that I'm behind the wheel myself, yes... it is very true. In their defense, they just needed a test drive in the snow again, right?
This Is Illegal To Do In The Winter Time in Michigan
With the snow falling you have to keep a few things in mind, one of which is the snow that falls onto your car after each snowfall.
Did you know that here in the state of Michigan, it is actually against the law to drive around with snow on top of your car?
We all get it, you're running late for work, and try rushing out the door without worrying about the snow on your car. But you can not only get pulled over for that here in the state of Michigan, but you could get a ticket for it.
On top of everything else, it is dangerous to drive with snow on your car. Most times, that snow can hide ice, which if you're going down the road and it fly's off, could do some serious damage to the people around you. Even fatal in some cases.
The Laws Behind It All
There is a Michigan Vehicle law 257.709 states that a driver may not drive a vehicle in the state of Michigan the obstructs the drivers vision.
The other law is 257.667a, which states that it is illegal to deposit snow, ice, or even slush into the roadway, which could obstruct another driver's vision. So that now that blows off the top of your car... that is illegal.
