These Major Retailers All Set To Close in Michigan in 2025
It's crazy to think that the COVID-19 pandemic was over five years ago now. Life for all of us has changed a lot since then too. A lot of the brick-and-mortar stores that used to thrive post-pandemic are struggling today.
While those businesses are struggling, giants like Amazon, eBay, and other online retailers are thriving. Think about it. If you can do it from your phone in bed, rather than out at a store, what would you do?
These Major Retailers All Set To Close in Michigan in 2025
There are at least seven major retailers that will be closing their doors in Michigan in the upcoming year. These closures aren't just local to us, but the entire country itself, which is crazy to think about.
A few companies already declared bankruptcy in 2024, like Tupperware, Joann Fabric, and Big Lots. Additionally, Red Lobster also declared bankruptcy in 2024.
Stores Set To Open More Stores in 2025
There are some stores that have already declared they would be expanding in 2025. One major chain announcing this was TJX Companies. Opening 99 stores (TJ Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods).
Another major chain that is looking to expand is Aldi. They will be expanding aggressively with plans for 800 new stores.

There are roughly seven major retail chains here in Michigan that will be closing their doors. A lot of different factors have contributed to this, like rising interest rates and inflation, which have reduced consumer spending on non-essentials.
