Veterinarians Warn this Common Food Could Kill Dogs In Michigan
I love my dogs Benny and Paddy even though they chew up something any time we leave them home alone.
Some of their favorite things to get into and destroy include my wife's shoes and underwear.
I assume it's because they know her scent and it's comforting to them.

Benny and Paddy also love carbs. Several times we've come home and caught them in the act. This is Paddy with a giant hotdog bun in his mouth. When he saw us he just froze in place and pretended we couldn't see him if he didn't move.
Chocolate Almost Killed Our Dog
Before we found our house in Grand Rapids last year, we spent a lot of time with our realtor looking for houses.
On one of those days, we went to check out a house only a few miles away.
In the 30 minutes we were gone, our dog Benny somehow jumped up on the counter and grabbed a pound of pure dark chocolate from Costa Rica.
If you didn't know, chocolate can be deadly to dogs.
Chocolate is toxic to dogs because it contains a chemical called theobromine, as well as caffeine. Dogs cannot metabolize theobromine and caffeine as well as people can. That is why dogs are more sensitive to the chemicals' effects.
Thankfully we got them both to the emergency vet in time to have their stomachs pumped. Turns out Benny ate the entire thing of chocolate by himself and poor Paddy had to have his stomach pumped for no reason.
