When you ask a Michigander what the official soda of Michigan is, there is only one answer: Vernors. (Unless you catch them in face paint, then they might tell you Faygo.)

But, since it’s America’s oldest soda, it also means by default, it’s also Michigan’s oldest and most beloved drink.

And now Vernors, the legendary ginger ale that’s been soothing sore throats and sparking Midwest pride for 160 years, is releasing a limited-edition Boston Cooler flavor.

(No, you won’t need to add a scoop of vanilla ice cream this time because it’s already built in.)

The new soda blends Vernors’ signature bold ginger flavor with smooth vanilla to recreate the taste of a classic Boston Cooler, the iconic Detroit treat that combines Vernors and vanilla ice cream into a fizzy, creamy float.

The drink dates all the way back to the late 1800s, and while the exact origin of the name “Boston Cooler” is still debated, one thing’s never changed: it’s pure Michigan.

Even though Vernors is now owned by Keurig Dr Pepper, it’s clear the brand hasn’t forgotten its roots. The new flavor is set to hit shelves later this July, and it’ll be available exclusively in Michigan and the Toledo, Ohio area.

You’ll be able to find it in:
• 12-packs of 12 oz cans
• 20 oz bottles
• 2-liter bottles
