
What Happened To Kids Trick Or Treating In West Michigan?
Halloween will be here before we know it, and kids across West Michigan will be dressing up in costumes running up and down the streets with parents not far behind.

When the night is over, the kids will frantically empty out their candy filled bags, and of course mom or dad will have to do a mandatory "candy check" to make sure everything is safe to eat.
But for whatever reason in my neighborhood, we're lucky if we see five trick-or-treaters

While I love having a giant bowl of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and sour patch kids to myself, I would much rather have a bunch of kids come by tricker treating instead.
For the past three years, I've been trying to figure out why kids don't trick-or-treat in my area, even though plenty live nearby. I can only think of two possible reasons.

The first thought is that all of the kids are heading to the wealthier neighbors nearby in East Grand Rapids.
The houses are massive and so are the king-sized candy bars that they hand out.
Another reason for my lack of trick or treaters might be because of Trunk or Treating events.
I think they're a great thing for families since everything is one spot and it's safer than crossing streets in the dark but it still bums me out that our sidewalks are completely empty.
Am I the only person that doesn't see any tricker or treaters or has this become the new norm?
