The Priority Waste crew was making regular rounds when they noticed smoke coming from a nearby home.
Without hesitation, Keeyon Beaty, Norberto Altman, and Gary Whitcher sprang into action.
Whitcher who was driving the truck stopped and called 911, Altman and Beaty took off towards the house and saw the woman inside.
They called her over to a window and were able to grab her out and get her down safely.
The woman didn't realize her house was on fire because some of her smoke detector’s batteries had died and didn't alert her until it was too late to get outside.
When the Mount Clemens Fire Department arrived, Altman and Beaty were walking the 70-year-old woman across the front yard to safety.
The Mount Clemens Fire Chief said the three men saved the woman's life.
“I would like to thank them again for having the courage and fortitude to intervene what they did this morning was great personal risk but the reward was equally as important, They saved somebody’s life. Without their intervention that they provided this morning, this would’ve been a fatal fire.” -Fire Chief Dan Reynolds.
