After a rough first season in Detroit (3-13-1 record), Goff led the Lions to a 9-8 record in 2022 and then 12 wins and their first playoff appearance since 1991 last season.

In 2023, Goff had one of his best statistical seasons, throwing for 4,575 yards and 30 touchdowns while completing 67.3% of his passes.

For that he is being reward with a new contact extension.

This new deal makes Goff the highest-paid player in Lions franchise history and the second-highest paid quarterback in the NFL behind Joe Burrow.
