Red Wings Legend Spotted “Working” On The Gordie Howe Bridge
The Gordie Howe International Bridge is named in honor of the legendary hockey player Gordie Howe, who led the Detroit Red Wings to four Stanley Cup victories and is a proud Canadian known for his contributions to the sport.
The six-lane cable-stayed bridge will have three lanes dedicated to Canadian-bound traffic and three lanes for US-bound traffic.
The bridge will also include a dedicated multi-use path for pedestrians and cyclists, as well as inbound border inspection facilities for both passenger and commercial vehicles.
The total length of the bridge is about 1.5 miles, making it one of the top five longest bridges in North America upon completion.
Work on the bridge that will serve as a connection between Canada and the United States started in June of 2018 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
A picture posted on the social media app X (formally Twitter) shows a former Detroit Red Wings player and current color commentator for the team Mickey Redmond "Helping" with the construction of the bridge.
