I'm a new mom, and naptime for my little guy can really be an entire event. He's only happy to sleep in two ways: on me, or on a walk around our neighborhood.

So, I've started to realize now that the weather is finally getting better here in West Michigan, maybe we can venture outside of our own neighborhood for an afternoon nap walk. So, that's when my hunt for some of West Michigan's 'shadiest' parks started.

So whether you're taking the little ones on a walk, or looking to take a stroll without getting burned, here are some of the best parks in Grand Rapids to skip out on the sun.

This little park outside of Alger Heights is my favorite best kept secret. It's not a huge space to walk around in, but it's always full of shade and friendly families.

I first started visiting Riverside Park for foodtruck fridays, but now it's become a favorite spot for a stroll. The shade is nice, and the water view is unmatched. One of my favorite parks in West Michigan without hesitation

This one is for walks that don't require a stroller. Or, you at least should get a stroller that can go 'off-road', because this mostly unpaved park is like taking a hike in the woods. We used to love taking our dog here to get some sniffs in, and now the little guy is becoming a fan too.
