The Polar Express (2004): This enchanting film about a young boy's Christmas Eve journey to the North Pole is based on a real-life steam locomotive, the Pere Marquette 1225, which has been a part of Michigan since 1941. The book itself, written by Grand Rapids native Chris Van Allsburg, is also based in Michigan.

The Santa Clause Trilogy (1994, 2002, 2006): Tim Allen, who stars in these popular films, was raised in Birmingham, Michigan, and attended Western Michigan University.

Prancer (1989): Filmed in the village of Three Oaks in Berrien County, Michigan, this movie is all about the power of belief and the magic of Christmas.

The Christmas Bunny (2010): Directed by West Michigan native Tom Seidman, this heartwarming film was shot in several locations throughout West Michigan.

A Christmas Winter Song: This recent entry into Michigan holiday movies takes place in Brighton, Michigan, and is full of soulful songs that celebrate faith and reunion during the festive season.

Miracle on Christmas: Filmed entirely in the Brighton area, this faith-based film follows a small-town family and their struggles to come together for the holidays.

Silver Bells: Filmed in Ludington and Grand Rapids, this film was made in partnership with the Salvation Army and created by Michigan native Harold Cronk.
