You Can Take a Yoga Class 118 Feet in the Air This Summer in Michigan
If you’ve been looking for a reason to take a road trip to Northern Michigan, this might be it: What about Michigan's highest in the sky yoga experience?
Yoga in the Sky is back at Boyne Mountain for the summer. Last summer, yoga lovers across the state were stunned (and a little intrigued) by the idea of holding warrior pose on a suspension bridge stretched across the mountains.
Now, the popular Yoga in the Sky series is making a return for summer and fall 2025, offering one of the most scenic (and elevated) yoga classes in the entire state.
What Is “Yoga in the Sky”?
This unique class takes place on SkyBridge Michigan, the world’s largest timber-towered suspension bridge, stretching 1,200 feet between two ski runs and towering 118 feet over the valley floor. If you’re brave enough to look around during downward dog, you’ll get sweeping panoramic views of Northern Michigan while you move and breathe your way through a 45-minute class.
Each Yoga in the Sky session begins with a 30-minute guided hike up the slopes of Boyne Mountain before the class kicks off at the top. No need to bring your mat (Boyne provides them, and yes, you’ll be carrying it during your hike). Just bring water, sunscreen, and closed-toe shoes, and you’re set.
Not quite ready to float over a valley in tree pose? That’s okay! This year, Boyne is adding a new session called “Peaks and Poses,” which takes place on solid ground during a peaceful sunrise. You still get the beauty and serenity of an outdoor class, without the height.
When and How to Sign Up
Yoga in the Sky will be held on select days throughout the summer and fall:
June: 21, 28
July: 5, 12, 19, 26
August: 23
September: 20, 21, 27, 28
October: 4, 5
Sessions run from 8–10 a.m. tickets cost $45 per person. After class, you’ll get all-day access to Boyne’s scenic chairlift rides and SkyBridge for even more views.
This experience is open to both resort guests and day visitors, so whether you’re staying for the weekend or just road-tripping for the day, you’re welcome to roll out your mat in the sky.
