New Mexican Restaurant Serving Massive 4 Pound Burrito Opens in Grand Rapids

Love Mexican food AND a challenge? A new restaurant serving up both is now open in Grand Rapids.

Tacos Don Jose, located at 430 68th St. SW, opened for business at the end of June.

On opening day the owners shared on social media, "Food is a powerful cornerstone in society that brings families and communities together. This is the heart behind the food. We are excited to finally share our food with everyone and establish ourselves in the everyday lives of the community."

Tacos Don Jose serves appetizers like chips and queso, chips and guacamole, and nachos. The menu includes tacos, tostadas, enchiladas, rice bowls - and a massive four pound burrito called the Wet Burrito Don Jose.

You get your choice of protein: pork, steak, chicken, or cacti (vegan). Then it's loaded up with rice, beans, sour cream, lettuce, tomato, onion, guacamole, salsa verde, and salsa roja.

The restaurant is challenging diners to tackle the Wet Burrito Don Jose in one sitting.

According to Tacos Don Jose's Facebook page, the gigantic burrito remains undefeated!

Up for the challenge? Tacos Don Jose is open Monday through Thursday 11a.m. to 9p.m., Friday and Saturday 11a.m. to 10p.m., closed Sunday.
