The Detroit Red Wings still have a window of hope to get into the NHL playoffs after a win over the Montreal Canadians 5-4. It was Lucas Raymond who found the net in overtime with only 25 seconds remaining to get the Wings a win.

For the Red Wings to lock down a playoff spot they will need to get through the Canadiens one more time. The Wings will also need a helping hand from the Philidelphia Flyers to beat the Washington Capitols. If these two things happen Detroit will clinch their spot in the playoffs. If one of the two things mentioned doesn't happen this will make the 8th year in a row the Wings do not make the playoffs.

According to Brad Galli's WXYZ Facebook page, Red Wings head coach Derek Lalonde gave love to fans for the octopus that got tossed on the ice during the game against Montreal. Lalonde said, "We got a little lucky with some timeouts and some octopi on the ice to get some breathers. Assist to the fanbase there. They had a good feel on what we needed for energy there."

Fans say once that octopus was thrown in the ice the momentum changes for the Red Wings.

Hopefully, for tonight's game, someone will be packing an octopus.

Every Sweater Number in Detroit Red Wings History Worn Just Once (Or Not At All)

For whatever reason, these numbers have either been worn just once or never at all in the nearly 100-year history of Detroit Red Wings hockey, according to Hockey Reference.

(Hockey Reference suggests that No. 6 was only worn by Cummy Burton, which is incorrect as Larry Aurie wore the number first and the number is pseudo-retired. Such inaccuracies are difficult to narrow down, so where they can be corrected they will be.)
