
Revealing Michigan’s Best Hole-in-the-Wall Restaurant
Of course there are the restaurants everyone knows about - the Michelin starred joints and the top-rated steakhouses. But what about Michigan's lesser known culinary gems?

Well, Lovefood went on a mission to discover the best "hole-in-the-wall" eateries in each state. These restaurants might not look super-impressive from the outside but they are are well-loved and highly-recommended for the delicious dishes they serve.
The foodie publication says the restaurants they chose range "from historic spots that started out as literal holes in the wall to basic diners that always offer warm welcomes and wonderful plates of food."
Lovefood's pick for Michigan's top bucket-list, hole-in-the wall eatery can actually be found inside multiple gas stations - it's Mr. Kabob!

The Gulli family opened Mr. Kabob at a Sunoco gas station at the corner of 12 Mile Road and Coolidge Highway in Berkley in 2003. Since then it's expanded to four additional locations.

On the menu you'll find Mediterranean food like gourmet pita wraps, shawarma, falafel, salads, homemade soups, hummus, Baba Ghanouj, chicken strips, chicken wings - and of course, kabobs, made with a variety of marinated meats.
Sides include Foo Foo Fries - ultra crisp fires topped with Feta cheese, parsley, Fattoush dressing, and ranch - along with Saffron rice, grilled vegetables, grape leaves, and pickled vegetables.

Mr. Kabob has also been honored by Thrillist as of the 13 best gas station restaurants in the country.
