This Restaurant Has Been Crowned Michigan’s Best Hot Dog Joint
America loves its hot dogs! According to the National Hot Dog Council (because of course that's something that exists in the U.S.) - Americans eat 20 billion hot dogs a year, which works out to about 70 per person.

Foodie publication Lovefood.com sought to find the top hot dog joint in each state based on reviews, awards, and the experiences of their team. Lovefood's pick for Michigan is a classic! Michigan is known for it's Coney Dogs, and this restaurant has been serving them up for over 100 years.

It's American Coney Island in Detroit!
Dubbed "Detroit's Original Coney", the restaurant first opened at 114 W. Lafayette Blvd. in 1917.

American Coney Island's hot dogs are made with a proprietary blend that is exclusively produced for them by Dearborn Sausage company.
On the classic Coney, a hot dog is put in warm steamed bun and topped with a Greek-spiced beef-heart-based chili sauce developed by founder Gust Keros, diced onions, and mustard.
In addition to Coney Dogs, the eatery also serves Gyros, Greek Salads, Tuna Salad Sandwiches, Spinach Pie, Wings, and desserts like Baklava, Donuts, and Cheesecake. Check out the menu here!
