University of Michigan redshirt sophomore Jalen Mayfield announced on Tuesday that he is opting out of the spring football and will declare himself eligible for the 2021 NFL Draft.

Mayfield was the Wolverines starting right tackle in 2019, his redshirt freshman season.

As a third-year player out of high school, Mayfield is eligible for next year's Draft.  That's even though he's only played one year in Ann Arbor.

ESPN's Mel Kiper and Todd McShay each have Mayfield as a potential first-round pick.
