On Thursday night, the Oklahoma City Thunder sent former NBA Most Valuable Player Russell Westbrook (pictured) to the Houston Rockets for All-Star point guard Chris Paul and a slew of future draft choices.

A trade involving Westbrook had been gaining steam since the Thunder sent forward Paul George to the Los Angeles Clippers for a bunch of draft picks last week.  Miami, Detroit, and Minnesota had been mentioned as possible destinations for Russ.

Westbrook had spent his entire career with OKC, he was drafted by the team out of UCLA in 2008. And was a main cog in the team's run to the NBA Finals in 2012, where they lost to Miami in five games.

Paul played one season in Oklahoma City, that was in the 2005-06 season when the then-New Orleans Hornets played in OKC while New Orleans rebuilt from Hurricane Katrina.
