Media sources are saying that the Detroit Tigers have agreed to a 1 year deal worth $2 million with catcher Alex Avila.

Avila is the son of Tigers president Al Avila.  Alex spent the 2016 season with the Chicago White Sox.  He was with the Tigers for seven years before leaving last season.

Alex will be the primary backup to starting catcher James McCann.
