The Detroit Lions traded starting safety Quandre Diggs (pictured) to the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday afternoon.

Diggs and a future 7th round draft pick goes to the Seahawks in exchange for a fifth-round choice in next April's NFL Draft.

Quandre signed a contract extension with the Lions right before the 2018 season and was a Pro Bowl alternate at safety last season.

Trading Diggs saves the Lions $1.6 million on the 2019 salary cap, plus additional money over the 2020 and 2021 seasons, according to spotrac.com.

The 2-3-1 Lions host the New York Giants this coming Sunday at Ford Field.
