Just a few days after making remarks about the popularity of women's tennis in relation to men's tennis, Indian Wells Chief Executive Officer Raymond Moore has resigned.

Moore commented over the weekend that women's players should "get on their knees and thank God that Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal were born because they have carried the sport."

He also said that the women's tour (the Women's Tennis Association) "ride on the coattails of the men."

The Indian Wells tournament is one of the biggest tournaments of the year outside of the four Grand Slam tournaments (Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, U.S. Open).
