Jim Myers, or as he was known to his many fans, George "The Animal" Steele, has passed away in hospice care in Cocoa Beach, Florida at the age of 79.

Myers was born in Detroit in 1937, and he graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science degree.

Following college, he got involved in the metro Detroit professional wrestling scene.  And eventually, became a worldwide star in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), now World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).

He's best known for his unusual behavior in the ring, including tearing up ring turnbuckles and throwing the stuffing in the face of his opposition.  Plus, his iconic green tongue.
