I Want to See the Detroit Tigers Be Active in Free Agency

The Detroit Tigers did the right thing by hiring A.J. Hinch as their new manager. I said when Ron Gardenhire stepped down that’s their guy and that they should please do the right thing and hire this guy. Yeah, he comes with a ton of baggage. But he knows how to build a club full of great players.

I’m not going to get into his historic sign stealing situation with the Houston Astros. But he won a World Series there. He will be 47 his next birthday, so he can relate to the younger ball players.

There are a lot of great players available on the MLB Free Agent market. The Tigers need a catcher, a solid pitcher, a solid outfielder and more. People won’t come out to the ballpark next year if you don’t make a valiant effort to field a respectable team. As of now that’s not the case.

Detroit has some decent ballplayers in the minors and some in the big leagues, but they need a lot more. The new manager Hinch can advise their G.M. Avila to go get these guys. Yeah, you can’t break the bank, but there are some bargain players to be had. Just go get them.

Chris Ilitch is the acting owner with his family. So Chris, I’m going to advise you on this. Build it again and they will come out again. Just go get some human spackle that can fill gaps and win games in the upcoming season. Let’s get some new blood in Motown. Get playoff baseball back to the Motor City!
