Tonight is the opening night for high school football in the state of Michigan.  Nearly 600 schools will begin their quest for state titles in either 8-Player or 11-Player football.

In the Lansing area, Everett, Sexton, and Eastern are back playing football this fall after not playing last year due to the Lansing School District's decision to not play because of the coronavirus pandemic.  While P-W and Portland look to regroup after seeing their playoff runs cut short because of COVID-19.

Williamston and Lansing Catholic were semifinalists last season.  And Portland St. Patrick was the runner-up in 8-Player Division 2.  All look to be strong again in 2021.

But DeWitt is the defending state champion in Division 3.  And they open defense tonight at the Big House (Michigan Stadium) against Division 2 semifinalist Traverse City Central.  You'll hear that game here on The Game 730 AM WVFN, starting with the pregame at 6:00.  Erik "Doc" Love will join Brock Palmbos on the call from Ann Arbor.

We will have a High School Game of the Week every week here on WVFN.  The first two weeks will be on Thursday, and then every following week will be on a Friday night.
