Here's something that I didn't consider being a guy who doesn't own a pet...

Oh yeah...by the way, don't get me wrong. I don't have any issues with our furry friends. I was raised around dogs and cats most of my life as I spent most of my younger days growing up in the country not only at my house, but also on my grandfather's farm.

So outside of getting tagged by a barn cat or two (by the way in case you didn't know, cat scratch fever is a "thing") I'm okay with felines and canines, but I lean towards canines. The real reason that I don't have a dog or dogs at home is because my wife and I can never agree on what we want. She's always wanted to have something smaller running around the house. Not me. I've always wanted something like the twin Doberman's on the old Magnum p.i. that are trained watchdogs that will run any bad guys off that happen to rear their bad guy heads on my property.

So there you go. Now back to what I didn't consider above because I'm not a pet owner. If I don't have any money because I don't have a job now, how do I feed my pet?!?!?! If you are one of the many who is now challenged financially because of COVID-19, there is still a way for you to get help providing for your dog or cat as the Ingham County Animal Control & Shelter is continuing their Pet Food Bank Services.

According to a press release issued by ICAC:

With so many residents still being effected by reduced or lost wages, ICACS has stepped in to provide additional assistance. Pet food and necessities can be picked up daily at the Mason animal shelter, and at the Lansing ICACS Outreach Center (826 W. Saginaw, Lansing 48915). Food bins are our front and are available for pet owners to take supplies as needed, and a restocked regularly. ICACS volunteers are also hosting a weekly pet food bank at the Meridian Township Central Park Pavilion on Wednesdays from 10am-12pm.

So, get Fido and Fluffy fed because there is help to make that happen. Get more info from the Ingham County Animal Control website.
