The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim slipped past the Detroit Tigers 2-1 at Angels Stadium Friday night. Efren Navarro's RBI double in the sixth inning broke a 1-1 tie and that was all the Angels (61-41) needed for the win. Detroit (57-43) took the lead in the top of the fourth on Miguel Cabrera's 16th home run of the season.  Drew Smyly (6-9) took the loss for Detroit despite a career-high 11 strikeouts and taking a no hitter into the fifth. Mike Morin (3-3) earned the win and Huston Street pitched the ninth for his 26th save. The two teams continue their four game series Saturday night. Justin Verlander (9-8) takes the hill for Detroit and Matt Shoemaker (7-3) starts for Los Angeles. Pregame coverage begins at 8:40pm on Lansing's Big Talker 1240 WJIM.
