There are a few people playing in the Super Bowl who played their college years right here in the State of Michigan. One will have to sit it out.

Eric Fisher is from Rochester, Michigan. Back in the 2013 NFL Draft he was the first overall pick. Fisher went to Central Michigan as a 2 star recruit and blossomed to become the first Chippewa ever taken with the first pick in the NFL Draft. Unfortunately Eric will have to miss the Super Bowl because he tore his Achilles tendon. This is a HUGE loss for Kansas City. They moved their right tackle over to replace him but the backup to the backup Andrew Wylie will have his hands full with Shaq Barrett. Barrett spent most of Sunday night in Aaron Rodgers face. It's a big advantage for Tampa Bay and their pass rush.

Another Former Chippewa Antonio Brown is expected to play after missing the Championship game. He hurt his knee in the Divisional Round against New Orleans.

Le'Veon Bell is reported to be playing in his first Super Bowl. He sat out the Championship game against Buffalo and is expected to be fresh. He really hasn't been the force he was in Pittsburgh. We'll see if he can conjure his old Spartan greatness at clutch time.

Former Spartan Will Gholston will also get his first taste of Super Bowl action for  Tampa Bay.

The Wolverines have some players in the game too. Defensive End Frank Clark's name will be called a lot during the big game. Taco Charelton also plays on the Chiefs defense but he is on injured reserve. Chad Henne willed Kansas City to their win over Cleveland.

So, 2 Chips, 2 Spartans and 3 Wolverines will play in the Super Bowl. Sounds like the opening line of a joke... A Chip, a Spartan and a Wolverine walk into a bar...

Oh yeah, that guy Tom Brady went to Michigan too but they kept him on the bench :(  Good thing, this is only his 10th Super Bowl.
