Former Spartan Bryn Forbes Absolutely Tore Up Summer Leagues This Year
His team might have been knocked out in the quarterfinal round and there were big name rookies all over the place, but the NBA Las Vegas Summer League's leading scorer Bryn Forbes was on fire.
Bryn Forbes finished 2nd among all players in a 24 team league with 26 points per game. In five games, Forbes shot over 40% from the field and averaged 3.4 assists in 29 minutes per game. The San Antonio Spurs (Forbes' team) was defeated by the Portland Trail Blazers in the quarterfinals 94-87.
Forbes impressed a lot of the basketball world with three straight 30 point games in the round robin portion of the Vegas league including back-to-back 35 point games. Forbes also led the Salt Lake City Summer League (4 teams) with over 21 points per game.
In other news about Spartans succeeding in Summer League ball, Matt Costello led all players in the Vegas League with 12 rebounds a game. The only other player to show up with double digit rebounds a game in Vegas was former Purdue big man Caleb Swanigan.
