Former Michigan State head women's basketball coach Joanne P. McCallie (pictured while at MSU) announced this morning that she is leaving her position as head coach at Duke University, effective immediately.

McCallie has been in Durham since leaving MSU in 2007.  She accumulated 330 wins during her time at Duke.  Before Duke and MSU, Coach P (as she is commonly called) coached at the University of Maine.

Joanne is best known in Michigan for leading the MSU Lady Spartans (with Lansing-area greats Kristin Haynie and Lindsey Bowen) to the 2005 Big Ten title and a trip to the Final Four in Indianapolis, where they beat Tennessee in the semifinals before losing to Baylor in the national title game.

McCallie has won 646 games in nearly 30 years of coaching.
