Recently fired Central Michigan University head football coach John Bonamego (pictured) has been hired back by the organization he left to take the CMU job several years ago...the Detroit Lions.

Bonamego will be the special teams coordinator for the Lions, a job he held with the team in 2013 and 2014.  He took the CMU job in 2015, and coached the Chippewas to a 22-29 record in four seasons in Mt. Pleasant before he was fired after a 1-11 2018 season.

Bonamego was born in Pennsylvania, but grew up in southwest Michigan and graduated from Paw Paw HS before attending CMU.  He has been a HS, college, and professional coach since the late 1980's.
