The high school girls basketball season is now over in the state of Michigan.  And congratulations are in for Rockford (Division 1), Hemlock (Division 3), Maple City Glen Lake (Division 4), and Lansing Catholic (Division 2) for winning state titles this season.

The Lansing Catholic lady Cougars won 22 of their last 23 games on their way to the state title.  And they avenged their only loss during that stretch in the district final when they knocked off Haslett, 54-42 at Eaton Rapids.

There were lots of other terrific teams this season.  Holt, Ovid-Elsie, and Fowler won regional titles this season.  Those three, along with DeWitt, Portland, OIivet, and Dansville won district titles.

There were lots of good players all over the area this season as well.  Some of the top ones are:  Holt's Janae Tyler, DeWitt's Maddie Uyl and Tara Kurncz, Grand Ledge's Ava Scanlon, Portland's Malia Thelen, Dansville's Megan Zeitz, Fowler's Emma Riley, Ovid-Elsie's Ava Bates, Lansing Catholic's Anna and Leah Richards, and any one of Haslett's starting five (Grace Isenhath, Isabel Lindo, Maddie Fant, Emily Homan, and Ellie Humble).  And let's not forget the tandem at Morrice, Aubrey Rogers and Mackenzie Doerner.  All of them had terrific seasons.

Later this week, I will publish the very unofficial season-ending awards.  Things like Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Game of the Year, etc.  Plus a few other "awards" as well.  There's no trophy for these, but each one deserves recognition.

Today is the final girls basketball rankings of the season.  And they will look different than the last regular season rankings because you have to take postseason accomplishments into account.  That's why Lansing Catholic is number 1, they won the Division 2 state title.

Ok, on with the final rankings of the season:
