It was another exciting season in girls basketball for the Mid-Michigan area.  And it was capped off by Fowler's second straight state title in Division 4 on March 19th over Plymouth Christian, 61-46.

But there were other great stories all over the area this season.  Portland St. Patrick won the CMAC title with a 20-0 regular season record.  Leslie won a share of the GLAC title with an 18-2 regular season record.  And congrats to East Lansing, Williamston, Haslett, Lansing Catholic, Portland, Stockbridge, and Ovid-Elsie for winning at least a share of their respective league titles.

Some of the great players around the area this season were:  Holt center Janae Tyler, Portland guard Ashley Bower, Lansing Catholic forward Leah Richards, Portland St. Patrick guard Lydia Meredith, and Fowler's great sister duo of Mia and Emma Riley.

Eight area teams won district titles, and four of those teams won regional crowns (East Lansing, Portland, Dansville, and Fowler).  Congratulations again to all of them.

One note about the final poll.  I have Fowler as number 1.  However, I believe that Portland (who is number 2) was the best team in the area this season (and they beat Fowler in the regular season 47-34 on February 15th).  And it's not really a question as to whether Fowler could beat East Lansing, Lansing Catholic, or any of the other teams on this final list.  They might not.  But Fowler has won back-to-back state titles in Division 4.  I am rewarding them for it, for what it's worth.

Ok, on with this final poll of the season.

Mid-Michigan High School Girls Basketball Top 10—3/21/2022

Here's the final top 10 team poll for girls basketball in the Lansing-area

Thanks for all the positive feedback we have gotten this season.  We decided to broadcast nearly 10 girls basketball games this season.  And it was very enjoyable.  Our favorite game of the year was the Division 4 district final between Fowler and Portland St. Patrick.  The Eagles used a 10-0 run to finish the game and avenge two regular season losses to the Shamrocks by winning 50-41 at a sold-out Lansing Christian HS (one of the best atmospheres in the Lansing-area).

We'll certainly do this weekly poll once again next season.  And the final boys basketball poll will be published next Monday morning.

Thanks again for following our polls this season.  See you in December!!!
