One of the greatest seasons in the history of Ferris State Bulldog football ended on Saturday night with a 49-47 defeat to the Blazers of Valdosta State (GA) in the NCAA Division II championship game in Frisco, Texas.

Ferris State quarterback Jeyru Campbell, this year's Harlon Hill Award winner (given to Division II's Most Outstanding Player) threw a touchdown pass and rushed for another one.  But Campbell was held to just 99 yards passing on the night.

Blazers QB Rogan Wells threw for 349 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Valdosta offense.

Ferris State WR Sy Barnett (former Charlotte and Williamston football and basketball star) rushed for a 5-yard touchdown in the final minute of play to pull the Bulldogs within 49-47, but the subsequent two-point conversion try to tie the game failed.

Ferris State ends the season at 15-1 and a runner-up finish in Division II.
