The Detroit News is reporting that Ferris State senior quarterback Jayru Campbell is out for the rest of the season due to an ankle injury.

The News reports that Campbell will have surgery and that his college career is over, and that the former Michigan State commitment will now concentrate on preparing for next April's NFL Draft.

The unbeaten Bulldogs open the NCAA Division II playoffs this Saturday in Big Rapids against Central Missouri.  Backup QB Travis Russell will play in place of Campbell.

Last year's Harlon Hill Trophy winner (the Division II equivalent to the Heisman Trophy) led the Bulldogs to a runner-up finish in Division II last season, but was hindered by injuries this season.
