By now everyone should know that former Lions linebacker Chris Spielman is a special advisor to the Detroit Lions organization. Hopefully he and his special advisory task force search committee can hire the right people for the job vacancies with Detroit.

Now, I have always loved the linebacker position on defense. Which got me thinking, who is your all-time favorite outstanding Lions linebacker? There are many to choose from.

I have to start out with Hall of Fame linebacker Joe Schmidt. Schmidt played for the Lions for 13 years from 1953 to 1965. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of fame in 1973. He played in 155 games, 24 interceptions, 8xAll-Pro, 10x Pro Bowl. He also was the head coach of the Lions when Paper Lion was filmed with George Plimpton.

Next on my list would have to be Mike Lucci. He played with the Lions for 9 seasons from 1965 to 1973. Lucci was a big hitter and an all around outstanding linebacker for Detroit.

Then there was Paul Naumoff, another outstanding linebacker. He played for the Lions from 1967-1978. He was solid. He passed away in 2018.

Next up is another solid linebacker Wayne Walker. He played 15 seasons with the Lions and also was a placekicker. His stint with the Lions was from 1958-1972.

Last but not least on my all-time list is Chris Spielman. Chris came out of Thee Ohio State as the best linebacker in the country. He played for Detroit from 1988-1995. He was a 4x pro Bowler, 1x First team All-Pro.

So, as you can tell, I have put together quite a list. My all-time favorite Detroit Lions Linebacker is Joe Schmidt. He was a wrecking machine and he is in Canton, Ohio in the NFL Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Tell us your favorite all-time Detroit Lions Linebacker, and if he isn’t on my list, add the guy. I love the linebacker position. Let us know!
