The famous Oakland Hills South golf course, dubbed "The Monster" by golf legend Ben Hogan, will be getting a major facelift that will close the layout in the near future.  That's according to the Detroit News on Friday morning.

The News reports that the planned renovations will close the course, located in suburban Detroit's Bloomfield Township, from the fall of 2019 until the spring of 2021.

Oakland Hills has hosted numerous major championships throughout its history.  Including the 2004 Ryder Cup matches, several U.S. Opens (last one hosted was 1996), as well as a number of PGA Championships (Last one hosted in 2008).

It is believed that Oakland Hills is making the changes in hopes of attracting another major championship sometime in the next decade or so.
