More bad news regarding Michigan State University. ESPN's Outside the Lines is reporting the the United States Department of Education says MSU violated federal law by "failing to comply with requirements that aim to ensure a safe campus, systemically underreported crime statistics, and -- in the handling of sexual assault allegations against former athletics physician Larry Nassar -- demonstrated "a lack of institutional control."

Department of Education officials say Michigan State violated provisions in the Clery Act, which was enacted in 1990, requiring institutions to report "crime statistics and security concerns so the public can assess campus safety, including reports of sexual violence, said ESPN report.

Michigan State does post its Clery Report log on it's website.

ESPN says neither Department of Education officials, nor Michigan State University has responded to these reports. The report goes on to say MSU has until February 12 to respond to the charges, and could not only face losses to federal funding but also being re-certified.
