East Lansing High School senior forward Jaida Hampton was named Michigan's Miss Basketball by the Detroit Free Press on Friday afternoon.

Hampton has led her Trojans to an undefeated 24-0 season, a CAAC Blue title as well as a Class A district and regional title this year.

She is the first Trojan since Klarissa Bell in 2010 to win the award.  And she is also the fifth Mid-Michigan player to win Miss Basketball.

East Lansing is still alive in the state tournament, they won the regional championship on Thursday night with a 54-40 victory over Coldwater.  The Trojans will face Muskegon in the Class A Quarterfinals next Tuesday night at DeWitt High School.

Hampton is averaging around 16 points and five rebounds a game.
