East Lansing’s Jaida Hampton Named Miss Basketball
East Lansing High School senior forward Jaida Hampton was named Michigan's Miss Basketball by the Detroit Free Press on Friday afternoon.
Hampton has led her Trojans to an undefeated 24-0 season, a CAAC Blue title as well as a Class A district and regional title this year.
She is the first Trojan since Klarissa Bell in 2010 to win the award. And she is also the fifth Mid-Michigan player to win Miss Basketball.
East Lansing is still alive in the state tournament, they won the regional championship on Thursday night with a 54-40 victory over Coldwater. The Trojans will face Muskegon in the Class A Quarterfinals next Tuesday night at DeWitt High School.
Hampton is averaging around 16 points and five rebounds a game.
