
East Lansing HS Star Torbert Named HS Student-Athlete Of The Week
Dowding Industries and the Lansing Sports Commission presents the High School Student-Athlete of the Week.
And this week's winner is Kelvin "K.J." Torbert, Jr. The junior point guard for the Division 1 state champion East Lansing Trojan boys basketball team.

K.J. was simply magnificent in the Trojans run to the championship. In the quarterfinal victory over Ann Arbor Huron, Torbert had 26 points and 10 rebounds. In the semifinal win over Orchard Lake St. Mary's, he had 19 points and 6 rebounds while playing all 32 minutes.
And then in the championship game, a 66-46 win over Wayne Memorial, K.J. had 16 points and 4 rebounds.
Torbert has numerous Division 1 offers right now. And with his play in the state tournament, he is a prime candidate to win Mr. Basketball next season as a senior.
