East Lansing & DeWitt Among Area Football Teams Ranked This Week
The Associated Press Michigan high school football rankings have been released this week.
After winning three straight games (after a blowout loss to DeWitt), the 4-2 East Lansing Trojans are back in this week's Division 2 poll. They are rated 10th.
The 5-1 DeWitt Panthers are ranked second in Division 3 behind 5-1 Detroit Martin Luther King (King beat DeWitt in the Division 3 semifinals three years ago.
Portland's two-point loss to Lansing Catholic (Read about that game here) has dropped the Raiders from 3rd to 5th in the Division 5 poll this week.
As for the Lansing Catholic Cougars, their thrilling win over Portland kept them atop the Division 6 rankings for another week. They will visit Charlotte this Friday with the outright CAAC White title up for grabs.
In Division 7, the unbeaten Pewamo-Westphalia Pirates are ranked second behind undefeated Traverse City St. Francis. 4-2 Ithaca is in the receiving votes category.
And in the 8-Player category, both Portland St. Patrick and Morrice are ranked. the Shamrocks are ranked 2nd with the Orioles ranked 4th. Both are undefeated and could play each other in the 8-Man playoffs (both are in Division 2).
The WVFN High School Game of the Week is a CAAC Blue battle as the 4-2 Holt Rams are at the 4-2 East Lansing Trojans. Pregame coverage begins at 6:00. And then Brock Palmbos and Erik "Doc" Love have the call from East Lansing's Lynn C. Adams Stadium just before 7:00.
