Downtown East Lansing Looking to Open Pizzeria and Bocce Courts
Whenever there's a chance for a new pizzeria to open up somewhere in the Greater Lansing area, tell me when and where and I'll be there! (nice rhyme)
I recently wrote a post about the new Buddy's Pizza restaurant on West Grand River in Okemos. My wife and I had dinner at Buddy's last week and the pizza was fabulous, so were the mouth-watering breadsticks.
Now we're on to the possibility of another pizzeria, only this time located in downtown East Lansing.
Let's just say that it's not happening at the current moment, but plans are in the works to build a new pizzeria along with bocce courts in the East Lansing area.
According to the Lansing State Journal:
Coratti's Pizzeria Bar and Bocce would be at 321 E. Grand River Ave., offering food and licensed alcoholic beverage sales. A public hearing on site plans and special use permit requests is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, before the East Lansing Planning Commission.
I think this will eventually be another great location in East Lansing for not only all MSU students and faculty, but for anyone who wants to enjoy delicious pizza and a couple of games of bocce.
If you're not familiar with bocce ball, take a look at the video below:
Looks like fun to me!
The Lansing State Journal adds:
Bocce ball, an Italian pastime and family tradition for Coratti, is similar to lawn bowling and players take turns rolling or tossing balls toward a smaller ball. Coratti said the bocce courts will be around 60 feet and will be an added attraction.
Love the concept and hope it all happens. We can tell you that there's an important meeting on Wednesday, May 11. It will be a public hearing on site plans along with special use permit requests. Good luck and let's get the bocce balls rolling!
