In 2013 the sports and football world lost one of the all time best defensive players, his name was David "Deacon" Jones. Jones was one of the most devastating players in the game.

He was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in 1961. The "Deacon" was a 14th-round pick out of Mississippi Vocational College, the 6'5", 278-pound defensive end transcended into one of the most intense players ever.

He was part of the greatest front fours of all time, they we're known as the Fearsome Foursome. Along, with Rosy Grier, Merlin Olsen, and Lamar Lundy. Deacon Jones will always be remembered for his speed and head slap. Jones wore #75 on his jersey and was also known for his strength.

When I think of all time great defensive players, I think of this man for his intimidating style of play. In fact, the term "sack" was invented by Deacon Jones. Deacon Jones was 74 years old when he passed. He will always be know as the "Deacon".
